It was December 2, 08, Nokia is proud to present the new comer, Nokia N97. The second touch pad mobile from Nokia and a serious competitor for Google G1 and iPhone. Believe me, its not ‘just another iPhone rival’, but a serious contender. Nokia calls it, “The Mobile Computer”. Let us take a look,

The touch screen key pad is sometimes a pain in the neck, and Nokia knows that. The N97 has a slide out 3 row QWERTY keyboard, in addition the touchpad. In terms of hardware, the nokia n97 clearly outperforms Iphone and Google G1 as well. But we know that it’s not the hardware feature which took iphone to the pinnacle, it’s the operating system and the cool interface. Well, n97 doesn’t seem to have a week point either. Nokia n97 is capable of playing flash games and videos, which the iphone lacks!

Customizable Widgets
You can see in the below video, that nokia n97 can be customized using widgets and is open for third party developers. The iphone application store has already more than 10,000 widgets, and growing.
Now, nokia don’t want to be left behind and it’ll catch up there soon.

So-Lo – ‘Social Location’
Nokia introduces a new concept, So-Lo. With the ultimate evolution of social networks, nokia n97 makes it easy to update with the social networks with the real time information. Not only that, n97 makes use of nokia’s updated mapping product and provides the exact point of your location, with the help of A-GPS sensors. Nokia claims this feature to be more versatile that Google Maps!

Nokia says this product will start shipping in the first half of 2009 and will be available for 36,000 INR at the minimum.
